Who we are
Sridevi Dance Academy is a classical Indian dance studio (Bharatanatyam) based in Lexington, Kentucky. We operate a web app at sridevidanceacademy.com and a companion iOS / Android app on the App Store and Google Play.
What we collect
- Account information — your name, email, optional phone number, role (student / parent / teacher / admin), and for students an optional level.
- Attendance and class history — which classes you are enrolled in, which sessions you attended, and any notes the admin records.
- Billing — invoices generated for your tuition and payments the studio records when you pay (cash, Zelle, Venmo, check, or bank transfer). We do not store any payment-method details such as card or bank account numbers.
- Event RSVPs — your responses to recital invitations and any costume size you choose to share.
- Mobile device tokens — if you install our mobile app and grant permission, we store an Expo Push token so we can send you reminders. You can revoke this in your phone settings or by signing out.
Why we collect it
Strictly to operate the academy: enroll you in classes, track attendance, generate invoices, accept your RSVPs, and contact you about classes, recitals, and tuition status.
What we don’t do
- We do not sell or rent your information.
- We do not run advertising trackers, analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking pixels in the app.
- We do not store payment-method details — payments are settled outside the app via cash, Zelle, Venmo, check, or bank transfer.
Service providers we use
- Supabase hosts the database and authentication. Your data is stored in their infrastructure.
- Vercel hosts the web app.
- Expo delivers push notifications when our admins send a reminder.
- Gmail SMTP sends sign-in codes and reminder emails on the studio’s behalf.
Each of these processes data only as required to provide the service.
Children’s privacy
Many of our students are minors. Parents create and manage their children’s accounts through the parent portal; children access only their own attendance and billing summary. We collect the minimum needed to operate classes — name, level, attendance, and (optional) costume size.
Your rights
- Access — sign in and view your data on the dashboard.
- Correct — edit your profile from the Profile screen, or ask the studio to correct it.
- Delete — open the mobile app, go to Profile → Delete account. Your profile is archived and your push tokens are removed within 24 hours. Historical financial records (invoices and payments) are kept for accounting purposes for as long as required by law.
- Stop notifications — turn off email reminders in Profile → Notifications, or revoke push permission from your phone’s system settings.
